One less eyesore

After the new fence went up between my yard and the neighbors’, up to the point where their house stops and their yard begins, the remaining bit of chain link stuck out like a sore, ugly, junky looking thumb. This was the view from my patio, and it was all I could look at.
I debated for a couple weeks whether to spend $35 on one of those bamboo mat things at Fred Meyer because I was worried it would just look ratty and I’d be layering one bad solution over another. I ended up settling on the bamboo thing because, really, could it be any worse? I used fine gauge wire to tie the mat to chain link fence. It’s not going to last forever, but it should work until next year when I hope I’ll replace the rest of the chain link. Once the stupid weather is less than 90 degrees on a weekend, I’ll put in a proper gravel path, cover the soil with a layer of compost, and add some plants, and then I should be able to kick back on the patio and enjoy cocktails without feeling like I’m sitting in a junk shop.

Picking up the bamboo screen was a good solution. Great to have an attractive fenced in yard!

There’s nothing worse than feeling like you’re having drinks over at Sanford and Son’s.
